Luke’s Lights 2020

Stories of light and Hope.

We cannot gather in person for the first time in eight years. But celebrate we will. Celebrate we must. On the Winter Solstice, the darkest night of the year, come to Luke’s Lights 2020

Monday, December 21 from 8-9pm
via Zoom:

20/20 vision.
2020 hindsight.
We couldn’t have imagined.

No one in 2015—not a single person—got the answer right to “where do you see yourself 5 years from now.” Days of darkness in so many ways: political turmoil, economic hardships, horrific racial injustices, AND a global pandemic!?

So much sorrow. I will forever wonder what Luke would be doing in these historic times. Would he be in love? Marching for justice? Working? At what? Sometimes those questions haunt me.
The only thing I know **for sure** is that he would not only be looking for the light. He’d be sparking it. So, in that spirit—with his spirit— we forge forward

Eight years?! Luke's Lights was born of the grief of a family who lost a 19yo son and brother. We had to do *something* with the love we have for him. So we decided to spread his spark everywhere we could—to people who live without electricity—in the form of solar lights that bear his name. To all of you who have helped us spread Luke’s light via Luke Lights around the world ...THANK YOU.

125,000 lights have gone to 78 countries. Because of you.

You have donated, you have bought lights, you have loved and supported us through the unimaginable. Would you come again? Glass half-full: some of you who could never attend before can now do so from your own homes.

Come hear wonder-filled stories of Luke Lights delivered to Haiti, Peru, Greece, Ghana, Honduras and more, told by those who’ve carried them in suitcases while traveling on service missions, foreign exchange trips, vacations with a cause. There will be song; there will be laughter; there may be tears.

Bring a Luke Light (or a candle) to light as we gather together. Let us circle around the fire and rejoin, share, support and celebrate each other and all that is good in the world.

I look forward to seeing you there.
I look forward to in-person hugs when possible

MMM,
Gisela and the VK-5

Luke had no idea sitting in this dark school in Kenya that he would be bringing light there.
