Pumachanca, Puno, Peru

It’s particularly poignant to us whenever Luke Lights travel to the country of Gisela’s birth. Marilú Monje, of Ayudanos a Ayudar  (Help us Help) brings provisions to the poorest of the poor in remote Puno, Peru. Located at an altitude of 12,565 feet above sea level, the population there struggles to survive. Subsistence farmers get low yields of potatoes, quinoa and other tubers due to limited access to fertilizers and seeds. Extreme poverty, lack of clean water and sanitation infrastructure, not enough food…and total darkness after sundown…imagine them receiving the gift of solar Luke Lights.
