Alex V. volunteered with Global Medical Brigades to provide healthcare in Panama where access is limited. Community health worker training empowers local leaders to perpetuate a consistent level of health care. For every student who volunteers on a Global Medical Brigade, sixty patients can see a doctor who otherwise would not be able to. Solar power is an issue of health by reducing noxious kerosene fumes, and helping prevent thousands of fire accidents and fatalities that happen every year due to fallen kerosene lamps.
